Mission Statement
The Joachim Giesel Archive pursues the goal of making visible and preserving the photographic life’s work of Joachim Giesel as well as promoting art and culture, science and research with a focus on photography.
The archive is registered in the commercial register under the name Joachim Giesel Archiv gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft (haftungsbeschränkt). The archive is managed by art historian Rickie Lynne Giesel. The art historians Katrin Kaiser, Marietta Mann, Sophie Peter and Mara Schmidt work as freelancers for the archive. We would like to thank Janine Büttner, Linda Kleinhubbert, Ann-Kathrin Könning, Jule Lang, Silvia Lehrack, Lewi Lewandowski, Laura Rosenthal and Pauline Tigges for their temporary collaboration.
Funding of science and research
The Joachim Giesel Archive opens its doors without exception to scholars, students and doctoral candidates, artists and people from the exhibition sector who wish to study the works of Joachim Giesel, the spectrum Photogalerie or the German photography scene after 1960.
Research grant
The Joachim Giesel Archive provides a financial grant to support ambitious term papers, bachelor’s theses, master’s theses and dissertations.
Loans
The Joachim Giesel Archive welcomes requests for loans of works by Joachim Giesel as well as works by other artists from Joachim Giesel’s private collection.
Reproduction
The Joachim Giesel Archive provides image rights and artwork for research and scholarly purposes free of charge. Any use requires permission.
